Q: Should I repair or replace my appliance?

A:Sometimes, repairing your existing appliance is the better choice for multiple reasons. The first reason being; repairs are commonly a cheaper option than replacing your entire appliance is.

Appliances that are older have been built better even though they may look simpler and have less bells and whistles. New appliances with all their new options and components, create opportunities for more things to go wrong or stop working.

The price of appliances has increased substantially over the last decade. In the past, you could get a top of the line, high-quality brand name washer for around $400. Nowadays. That same 400$ would get you the most basic model which will most likely require frequent repairs.

Keeping your existing appliance can save you money in the long term, and also protect the environment.

Q: Does Quick Appliance Repair provide free house service calls?

A: With Quick Appliance Repair, when you decide to go forward with the repair, your service charge is free.If your intent is to have your appliance fixed, you will receive a free diagnostic as well as a quote so we can get your appliance working like new again!

If you choose not to go forward with the repair, there is a very small service call fee.

Q: How much will it cost to fix my appliance?

A: For simple problems, our prices start at $115 for any type of appliance -fridge, dishwasher, washer, oven or stove etc. Depending on the extent of the issue, parts needed and repair time, repair costs can go upwards of 200$.

Prices and quotes are given to our customers up front. This way you know exactly how much you will need to spend on your repair and you can then decide what option suits you and your family best.

Q: Can my appliance be fixed on the same day?

A: At Quick Appliance Repair, we are proud to offer same day service! We strategically placed our technicians throughout Vancouver so there is will always be a technician available in your area. Our technicians keep the most common repair parts on-hand meaning your appliance can often be fixed at the time of the service call! We offer same day service on evenings, weekend and holidays.

Q: My washer and/or dryer is making loud noises, what could it be?

A: If your washer or dryer is making a loud noise, take a look inside the drum of your washer or dryer to see if any loose coins or objects have found their way inside. Any loose items inside the drum can make an unwanted strange noises.

If you have looked in the drum and come up empty handed, the problem can lie internally and a technician will have to take a look inside your washer or dryer to find the source of the noise.

There are a few options component-wise that could be the source of the noise and the technician will look at each one until the source of the problem is found!

Q: My fridge isn’t cooling, do I need a new compressor?

A: On average, only 5% of ‘fridges not cooling’ cases are compressor related so the odds of your fridge requiring a new compressor is quite rare. There are many components of your fridge that function to make it cool, chances are better that it is any one of those.

On the bright side, the other component repairs are simpler than replacing the compressor, and most of those parts are kept on-hand in our repair vans. Your fridge can be repaired and back in working order on the same day.

Q:There is no power going to my appliance. What do I do?

A: For any power issues, the first thing to check when there is no power going to your appliance is your circuit breaker in your fuse box. Make sure that all the fuse switches are pointing in the right direction. Sometimes you may need to reset them by turning them off and on.

If that does not fix the power issue, then a technician will be able to come by and open up the appliance to determine why it’s not receiving power. The technician will provide you with a solution and get your appliance working again.

Q: My dishwasher isn’t draining, what can I do?

A: The most common reason that dishwasher stops draining properly is because the filter inside is clogged. Most filters are under the bottom rack of your dishwasher, remove the filter and clean out any blockage that is visible. You can also soak the filter in vinegar overnight to help clear clogs.

Once you have removed the filter, reach inside the area under it and remove any bits of food that could be blocking the drain. If your dishwasher is still not draining, there could be a clog deeper in the system or part of the drain cycle could be malfunctioning.  Schedule an appointment with a technician who will be able to find the root of the problem.

Q: My washer isn’t draining, what can I do?

A: If your washer is not draining, the first step is to check the filter located in the bottom of your washer. Sometimes the filter can get clogged with lint, pet hair or other fibres which can cause it to not drain properly. Clean the filter out well to get out any residue, then put it back in the washer. See if cleaning the filter solves the draining issue. If it doesn’t, a technician would need to come by and look at your washer and see if there are any internal clogs or components that may be failing and causing the washer not to drain.

Q: What is the average length of time my dryer should take to dry a load of clothes?

A: The average time it should take your dryer to dry a load of laundry is usually between 40-50 minutes. If it seems as though your dryer is taking longer than that to dry your clothing, then we recommended that your dryer be looked at.

It could be that a part of your dryer may not be operating at 100% efficiency, or there could be other issues which are causing longer drying times. This problem can also be raising the costs of your utility bills. A technician will be able to figure out the cause.

Q: My dryer doesn’t heat up, what can I do?

A: If your dryer is not generating heat, check your circuit breaker to make sure there is power going to your dryer, reset the switch to see if that helps. If that does not help the the issue, a technician would need to come by and examine the dryer to see why no heat being created. There are a few common reasons as to why your dryer would not be creating heat. Our technician will be able to determine the problem and provide a quote to get your dryer working like new again.

Q: Why isn’t my dishwasher cleaning my dishes properly?

A: In order to make sure your dishwasher stays working properly, there are a few things you should remember.

1. You should always be pre-rinsing your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.

2. You should be using the correct type of soap or detergent recommended by the manufacturer.

3. Ensure that there is water going inside your washer.

If you continue to have issues with your dishwasher and cleanliness of dishes, then one of our technicians would be happy to come by and take a look to see why your dishwasher isn’t cleaning dishes thoroughly.The technician will  be able to provide you with a quote once he knows what the issue is. Everything that needs to be done to get your dishwasher back in working order will be explained to you as well.

Q: My oven doesn’t heat up, what can I do?

A: Check the circuit breaker to make sure that the fuse is on and that the oven is receiving power. If after that, your oven is still not receiving heat please call one of our technicians to come and examine your oven. Our technician will be able to open up your oven and determine the reason as to why your oven is not receiving any heat.
